Welcome to Ukyo Voices 2022!

THE “Ukyo Voices 2022” PROJECT

“Ukyo Voices 2022” is a project by students of a Translation Studies seminar class at Kyoto University of Foreign Studies. In order to promote the attractiveness of Ukyo-ku, where the university is based, the students interviewed people living there, compiled the interviews into articles, and created this website in both Japanese and English. This project follows on from a project last year called “Ukyo Voices.” Within two weeks of the launch of the website, there were a total of 1,557 accesses to the website from 14 countries. Starting this year, we plan to add new pages every year such as “Ukyo Voices 2022,” and “Ukyo Voices 2023” to bring you the voices of more people of Ukyo-ku.

“Ukyo Voices 2022” this year is subsidized by a support program of Ukyo-ku which is aimed at promoting community development through the participation and collaboration of the people of Ukyo-ku.
