About The Project

Machine translation was used to write up articles in English. As all the project members belong to the Translation Studies seminar, one of our aims was to work on the project while experiencing the latest translation technology and the translation process in the industry.
Recent machine translation using AI technology has improved its translation processing performance and is currently known for its fluent translation. However, the ability to understand the context and compose sentences is no match for human ability, so human intervention is essential for high-quality translation. Therefore, we followed this process when preparing the articles:

1. Writing the Japanese article: Completed after confirming that there were no errors by the interviewee.
2. Pre-edit: Changes are made to proper names, expressions in the Japanese language, and other parts of the Japanese document which cannot be translated by machine translation.
3. Machine translation
4. Post-edit: The student in charge of the translation verifies the machine translation for errors and omissions and edits the translation to further improve the quality of the English text.
5. Proofreading: Checking English phrases with native speakers.

Proofreading is done in cooperation with Inter Group Corp. We are grateful to Inter Group for their cooperation in also conducting the online seminar.
